I don’t really know where to start. Im just going to start writing as I think, so this post might go all over the place from the way my brain is thinking right at this exact moment, at 8:17 on sunday afternoon. The patriots just lost a home playoff game…..for the 2nd year in a row. Honestly I was initially pretty pissed off. I mean… REALLY pissed off. I threw my remote at the wall, and was very frustrated with the way they executed the game. Then I sat back and realized, what I did was just immature. Why throw the remote? what is that going to accomplish? On one side, its a way of releasing frustration, but thats the wrong way to do it. Take the loss, and move on. Dont get so emotional with things that ultimately dont really matter. So the patriots lost? Big deal. I still have a great girlfriend, a great job, great friends and DETERMINATION. Thats all I really need. I dont NEED the patriots to keep winning for me to be happy, I WANT them to keep winning for me to be happy. At the end of the day its just a game, and really doesnt affect my life as much as I let it. Thats right… I let it get to me. I ended up throwing the remote, and it got the best of me. I literally was so frustrated that all rationality was throw out the window and I did something completely useless that ultimately leads to another mistake, which ultimately could have led to another mistake. Its like a chain reaction in the wrong way. Here are 2 examples of what I did, and what that COULD have led to, and what I could have done differently, and what that would have led to… For instance:
1. Lets say I throw the remote, it his the wall and smashes into pieces. Now I cant change my channel wirelessly until I buy another remote which causes the 2 next things. Either 1, I have to now BUY another remote and spend MONEY because I made a mistake, or I stay without a remote and punish myself by not buying another remote. Either one, really does nothing positive in my life. Ultimately, either choice I decide to do…will most likely impact another negative thing. Lets say I buy another remote, now I am out of money, when I could have used that money for something else that I NEED, or something else someone else NEEDS, but now I cant. The only thing I can learn here is to learn from this mistake, and not let it happen again.
2. I could have also just sat there, and done nothing. Sit there, think about it. Calm down. Count from 10 down to 1, and WOOOOSAAAAAA. just let the negative energy flow outside my brain, and think of happy thoughts instead. Whats the point in getting all bent out of shape for nothing? Its so immature. All of this competitiveness, the hell with that. Its a game, nothing more. Its not my job, its not really that important.
Anyways, I felt that if I wrote this down it would really give me alot more time to think about some of the little immature things that I do, and help me not continue to make them a part of my life in the future. I know its really petty, and childish, but the more I can emphasize it, the better off I will be. I will forever remember about the time that I was really pissed off about a football game, and threw the remote and then realize that even though I may have felt better immediately afterward, in the long run, I was disappointed in myself for getting bent out of shape for a damn football game. If I would have just told myself, “dont do that again next time” there is a higher chance I would have still done it again sometime in my life… but now that I have over emphasized it to myself, and to the world, I now realize the importance of being a good sport, taking the loss and moving on.
I know this post might have seemed a bit useless to some people, so I apologize for putting you through this. 2011 has got off to a really good start, and I am committed to making this year a very important year. I really believe how this year turns out is a very pivotal year in my life. I started committing to things in late 2010, and they have carried into the new year. ultimately I want to live a extremely healthy, and happy lifestyle full with nothing but great memories that will be remembered, and great times that will be cherished. Im turning 25 this year, and that amazes me.
I need people around me to become more determined. How determined have you been lately?
