Angel

I had a whole post written on this joint, yet my phone crashed so I’ll have to finish writing it later when I’m not on my phone. I’ll remember I promise. Yet here I am again. Stupid iPhone. I’ll just post the lyrics for now.

**EDIT-(4 hours later) WordPress is BOSS! Apparently this joint auto saves drafts every couple seconds.**- forgot about that. 🙂

So here was my original writing:

So back story on this artist. In my youth I always associated Sarah McLachlan with this girl named Sarah I went to school with from about 3rd grade all the way to graduation. I associated the two because of their voice & beauty. (even though I never really payed much attention to the lyrics). In my opinion, they kinda look alike 🙂 I heard my classmate sing one time a long long time ago in like 4-5-6th grade and it blew me away. She also had this beautiful resting face I found absolutely adorable. Of course I was very young, but nonetheless she captivated me a long time ago. I had a huge huge crush on her back then, and I never really said anything to her, though she kinda knew. She’s actually happily married now, having her first child recently, happy for her!!(even tho we don’t even know each other, never really did, mostly just by name). Wow it’s been 14 years since graduation. Which means I’ve known of her existence for about 22 years. That’s crazy. Anyways, every time I’ve heard this song, that’s something I think about. It certainly has been a while. Interesting to think of times back then when life was ‘simpler’, for lack of better words.

The second is this is the song played on the sad commercials with animals seeking donations. That’s what it’s known for to the masses.

I actually just got done listening to the song as I currently type this post, sitting on a hotel patio in key west. Vacationing with my sis, nieces & nephews. Now that I’ve actually paid attention to the lyrics, they connect with my in an entirely different way. Powerful stuff.

Will finish this post later.

Lyrics:

“Angel” Sarah McLachlan

Spend all your time waiting
for that second chance
for a break that would make it okay
there’s always some reason
to feel not good enough
and it’s hard at the end of the day
I need some distraction
oh beautiful release
memories seep from my veins
let me be empty
and weightless and maybe
I’ll find some peace tonight

in the arms of the angel
fly away from here
from this dark cold hotel room
and the endlessness that you fear
you are pulled from the wreckage
of your silent reverie
you’re in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort here

so tired of the straight line
and everywhere you turn
there’s vultures and thieves at your back
and the storm keeps on twisting
you keep on building the lies
that you make up for all that you lack
it don’t make no difference
escaping one last time
it’s easier to believe in this sweet madness oh
this glorious sadness that brings me to my knees

in the arms of the angel
fly away from here
from this dark cold hotel room
and the endlessness that you fear
you are pulled from the wreckage
of your silent reverie
you’re in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort here
you’re in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort here
